The one is for Anaglyph.
In December, I mentioned luminarias. Anaglyph asked for pictures. Here you go…
These pictures are courtesy of the master photographer, Rob Fuel.
These happen to be my favorite part of growing up in the Southwest. And as the last picture shows, they line walkways. There is a traditional reason for this. But can anyone tell me why?
(Yes, I do know the answer. But I’m shooting for audience participation. Members of the family are allowed to poke fun, but ARE NOT allowed to give the answer away.)
Happy Hunting (it honestly shouldn’t be too hard).
Oh, I’ve just posted an awesome drink recipe. Check it out.

I'm guessing the purpose of a luminaria is to light the way to your house? As bad as I wanted to, I didn't pull a smarty-pants move and google for it.
The drink recipe looks good. I may tart it up with some vodka.
Chickie - That's not a bad guess. But, there's a bit more to it. As for the vodka, I'll look a few recipes up for you if you'd like.
You're slipping, Joe. Martha would have used a hole punch to make designs in the bags.
Anne and Aimee - You're both right, Martha could and would have done so much more to those bags. However, she would have butchered the tradition.
Oh, and I'm not slipping, I'm maintaining my heterosexuality.
Jude - An interesting guess, but hunting honestly has little, if nothing to do with it. Think about the Christmas story...
Hey that's really pretty. I've never seen that here. It looks fairly simple to do.
BTW - your blog is really hard to read on my browser (Safari). Very dark blue with black writing. Is that a fault or did you make major changes?
Anaglyph - I'm still working on that. But all will be well soon. In the mean time, I'm sorry.
As for the luminarias. Yeah, they are beautiful. And they're really simple. Maybe you can start a new trend in decorations over their in Australia. Or maybe not. It's up to you.
