[insert cutting remark here]

So, registration for the spring semester started yesterday. Disabled and honors students were the first to be able to register.

I had to go talk to people in the Criminal Justice department and the Arts and Sciences Advising Center to get started on a second minor in Security Technology and Intelligence Studies.

I'm a Biology major, with a Chemistry minor. I don't really belong in the CJ or Engineering Technology departments. But, I don't care, I want this minor. This is the first semester that this minor has been open to non-CJ and -ET majors. Plus, I have recieved express permission from both departments to pursue this minor. I thought this little trip to finish my registration would be cake.

It wasn't. At all. After being shuffled back and forth and back and forth between WAY too many professors and offices, I walked into the Advising center, with an "Add/Drop" slip in my hands. I'm ready to finish registration. I have permission from both departments and now I have permission from a professor to attend his CJ class.

A grey-haired lady (GHL) walked up to me as I was in the line...........

GHL: May I help you?

Me: Sure. I'm a Biology major wanting to pursue a Security Technology and Intelligence Minor. I have this add slip for this CJ class and I just need to finalize this.

GHL: You can't do that.

Me: I'm sorry. I don't understand.

GHL: You can't pursue that minor.

Me: Why not?

GHL: You're not a CJ major.

No freaking way! I only declared my major myself. But I had NO IDEA that biology doesn't mean criminal justice!

Me: I understand that. But I've recieved permission from the CJ department.

GHL: I don't know who you talked to, but there are 600 CJ majors that have priority to those classes. You can't pursue this minor.

Well, I've talked to the department head. That would seem to be the best person to talk to about this sort of thing.

Screw it. This argument isn't worth it. Arguing with stupid people rarely is...

Me: Hm. Sorry.

[GHL turns and walks away]

I finally make it up to the main desk.

Me: I have this add slip and I'd like to register for this CJ class.

Lady at the Desk: Sure, just go down the hall. Talk to the lady in the last room on your left.
