Further adventures in idiocy

So, I went out to dinner with a few friends last night, including my friend Saeed. We went to Bennigan's. It's an "Irish" bar and grill.

In any case, it was my 21st birthday. I decided that I wanted to get a steak and a gin martini, because, it's my 21st birthday.

The service was less-than-stellar from the beginning, but I try to be a forgiving guy.

Anyway, the waitress takes my order...

Me - I'll have the "fire-grilled steak" with black beans and the roasted vegetables.

Waitress - OK.

Me - And I'd like a gin martini.

Waitress - Sure, can I see your I.D.?

Me - Absolutely.

Saeed - It's his birthday today!

Me - You jerk.

Waitress - Happy Birthday!
She checks the I.D.
Whoa! It really IS your birthday!

Me - Yeah. Thanks.

The waitress moves on to my friends to see what they want. I, however, realize that I never specified what size steak I wanted and I wasn't going to be stuck with the little one. There's a pause in the ordering process, so I slip in....

Me - Oh, with the sirloin, I wanted the 10 ounce one.

Waitress - Uhm... alright. Did you mean the big one?

Me - Yeah, it says you can get an 8 or 10 ounce. I want the 10 ounce.

Waitress - OK...

She moves on. I try not to pay attention to her semi-confused demeanor. She's seemed a bit confused the whole time anyway.

After she has taken our orders, she takes off. We resume our prior conversation.

Then, the manager comes to our table.

I'm thinking, Great, if Saeed's little declaration gets the staff singing, I'm gonna kill him.

Manager - So, who ordered the martini?

Me (hesistantly) - Me. ... Is there a problem...?

Manager - Maybe... You wanted a 10 ounce martini?

Me - What?!?! NO NO NO NO NO! I was talking about the steak!

So what did you think of the martini?

*laughing* Great post! And Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday!

Chickie - Not bad. I think I'd prefer the martini over a beer. But, once I get up and going mixing drinks around here, we'll make a final judgement.
